When Bad Dreams Come True
You know those bad dreams you sometimes have the night before a big test? Where in your dream, you wake up and realize your alarm didn’t go off and you’re now late for your test? Well, in my three years of college, I’ve had many dreams (actually, nightmares) about this, but it’s never actually happened. But as the saying goes, there’s a first for everything.
I had a Molecular Biology test scheduled for 8 am this morning. I’ve learned my lesson in the past, so I decided not to pull an all-nighter and actually went to bed at a halfway decent hour. My cell phone alarm went off at 5am, and I bounced out of bed, with the intention of getting about two and a half more hours of studying done. Things were going well…I ate breakfast, studied for a while, took a shower…. Heck, my mom even called me four times while I was in the shower because she was afraid I wasn’t awake. I sat back down on my couch to cram in as much info as I could about transcription initiation, elongation, and all that jazz. The next thing I knew, I opened my eyes, looked at the microwave clock, and realized that “yep,” that terrible dream had come true. I missed my test.
All I can say is, thank goodness, I have an awesome professor who completely understood and gave me a chance to take the test that I slept through. And Mom, if you’re reading this, maybe I do still need that wake-up call afterall.
