MCAT Worries No More
Well things are all good for the year so far; Senior year has gotten a lot more busy than I thought it would be though. SGA meetings and being a committee chair as well as all my other obligations with frat and other clubs. Luckily classwork hasn’t been ridiculous. All the while though I’ve had something hanging around in the back of my mind that I rarely forgot about - my MCAT score.
I took the much feared test just a week before classes started after being forced to take the test on very little notice, a week. To be honest, it was really my fault because I waited so long to sign up because I thought a month in advance would be plenty of time to sign up for a September date. Little did I know that every date was filled. Things worked out after about a week and a half of searching for a date every day, and I found an open seat in Little Rock. Then it was time to prepare as best I could.
I brushed up on what I could, mainly Organic and the format of their reading section. If you’re planning on taking the MCAT, please believe that a week is definately not an ideal amount of time to study for this thing. So of course the day of the test I was a little stressed, but before walking in I calmed myself saying that all I could do is my best and answer what I could. Testing was not as bad as I thought it would be however. I had my mind right, and it turned out that I was the first one finished. You know how that feels though where you figure that you either did really well or bombed it because you didn’t give it enough thought. Turns out things would work out fine.
I got my scores back yesterday, and I had plenty reason to celebrate. I’m guessing that I will probably be getting into Med School with my score. Ivy league may be a bit of a stretch, but as long as my application is up to standards and I don’t bomb the interview, I think I can be very competitive at most schools. I’m not in yet, but I think it might still be a little hard to stay focused especially if I get an acceptance letter here in a few months. I am very grateful though to have a good score luck or not. A word to the wise though, sign up early and prepare because the stress of the test and then the waiting for the score is not something you want to do while questioning how prepared you were. ![]()
