Yep so I’m back from trip #2 for the summer.  This time was backpacking in the Rockies out in New Mexico.  I was an Eagle Scout back in the day so when one of the advisors for a trek out to Philmont got hurt, I got an invite and jumped at the chance to be an advisor and the chance to go again.

The trip definately had its challenges though.  Every group always has its “bad apples” but this time they weren’t too hard to keep under control.  The 80 or so miles we covered was definately a lot harder especially when you consider that our packs were between 40-55 lbs.  Then there was the freeze dired food we ate.  It wasn’t exactly 5-star cuisine (yeah I lost 10lbs.)!  The views definately made it worth it as we crossed over the peaks of four different mountains of the Sangre de Jesus range in the Rockies.  I got plenty of awesome pics to show for it.

Even though we had our hardships, it was definately worth it.  Being out there really made you appreciate the beauty there is to experience in the wilderness.  When I got home I also appreciated my bed, lol.  So now the summer is half over, which is not all that cool because I’m not exactly to the point to where I’m ready to be back at school, yet.  It is coming though.  I think as much as some of us hate to admit, we each reach some point in the summer, some sooner than others, where we miss Lyon.  I’m definately looking forward to getting back to friends I don’t get to see that often in the summer.  I’m also looking forward to Scot basketball season and hopefully getting the chance to be announcer again.  Anyway, I’m out - gotta only half a summer left to take advantage, so everyone go out and do something cool if you haven’t already!
